Edward III, King of England

He was born in 1312, as son of Edward II, King of England and Isabelle of France. He was King of England from 1327 to 1377. He married Philippa of Hainault.

Edward and Philippa had exactly twelve children:

  1. Edward (1330-1376), the Black Prince married in 1361 Joan of Kent, his first cousin
  2. Isabella (1332-1379) married in 1365 Enguerrand VII de Coucy, 1st Earl of Bedford
  3. Joan (1335-1348) called "of the Tower"
  4. William (1337-1337) called "of Hatfield"
  5. Lionel (1338-1368), Duke of Clarence married first in 1342 Elizabeth de Burgh, secondly in 1368 Violante Visconti
  6. John of Gaunt (1340-1399), Duke of Lancaster married first in 1359 Blanche of Lancaster, secondly in 1371 Constanza, heiress of Castile, thirdly in 1396 Catherine Swynford aka Catherine Roet
  7. Edmund of Langley (1341-1402), Duke of York married first in 1372 Isabella of Castile and secondly in 1393 Joan de Holland
  8. Blanche (1342-1342)
  9. Mary (1344-1362), Duchess of Brittany married in 1361 John V de Montfort, Duke of Brittany
  10. Margaret (1346-1361) married in 1359 John Hastings, 2nd Earl of Pembroke
  11. William (1348-1348)
  12. Thomas of Woodstock (1355-1397), Duke of Gloucester married by 1381 Eleanor de Bohun

Edward III died in 1377 and was succeeded upon his death by his grandson Richard.
