URL: http://www.countyhistorian.com/cecilweb/index.php?title=Pyne_Cavendish This article about Pyne Cavendish, an ancestress of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, corrects several sources, which state her ancestry in error. ==Pyne Cavendish== Pyne Cavendish was born between 1731 and 1748, the daughter of Henry Cavendish (1707-76) (later Knight and First Baronet), by his first wife Anne Pyne (born 1706/8). We know that Pyne was born 1731 or later, because her parents had a license to marry dated June 1730. We know that Pyne was born in 1748 or earlier, because that year her father remarried. In 1768, Pyne Cavendish married Maurice Crosbie, Dean of Limerick, the son of Maurice Crosbie, 1st Baron Branden by his wife Elizabeth Anne FitzMaurice. Maurice Crosbie and Pyne Cavendish had a daughter Pyne Crosbie born sometime between 1769 and 1792 who on 24 Jul 1806 married Henry Otway Brand-Trevor (born 1777), 21st Lord Dacre. Pyne (Cavendish) Crosbie is an ancestress, through this marriage, to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. Pyne Cavendish appears in Position 147 in Sarah's Ancestral Chart. ===Primary sources for 1=== *"London Marriage Licenses, 1521-1869", by Joseph Foster, Joseph Lemuel Chester, John Ward Dean. Henry's baptismal certificate is extant in the extracted IGI. In 1730, when Henry had just turned 23 and had not been previously married, he as "Henry Cavendish, esq of Doveridge" married the 23-year-old unmarried Anne Pyne of St Anne. Their license dated 8 June 1730 allows them to marry at Royal Chapel of Whitechapel. Their is a patron-submitted sheet in the IGI claiming that they did marry the next day at Westminster. ===Primary sources for 2=== *Baptism of "Henry Cavendish" on 15 Apr 1707 at Doveridge, Derby as son of "William Cavendish" in the IGI - British Isles - Batch J049912 "Parish registers for Doveridge, 1574-1968 Church of England.
