He was born abt 1836 in South Carolina, to Edward Young Johnson and his wife Mary Eason.

He married Edna S "Edny" between 1853 and 1854.  She was born abt 1839 in Georgia.

They lived in Paulding County, Georgia, where he was a Blacksmith.  Later they moved to Hempstead County, Arkansas by 1880, where he was a Farmer.

He died between 1890 and 1900, probably in Spring Hill, Hempstead County, Arkansas.
