'''George L Tackett (1830-1865)''' George was born possibly as the son of [[Mount Etna Tacket]] in Mooney Township, Phillips County, Arkansas. George married an unknown first wife and had two children [Alice Tackett (1854-1934)|Alice] and Marcus. He married again in 1861. On Apr 2, 1860 two Tackett brothers and possibly their father went to the land office in Helena to purchase land in Arkansas County. As "George L Tackett of Phillips County", he entered [http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Detail.asp?Accession=AR1760%5F%5F%2E377&Index=7&QryID=64266%2E45&DetailTab=2 160 acres by Cash Entry] at NW S33-T6S-R2W. He also enters 160 acres at NE S32-T6S-R2W, again by Cash Entry. However on this document he calls himself "George L Tackett of Arkansas County". These two pieces touch each other, forming a rectangle. As "Edmond P G Tackitt of Phillips County", his brother, entered 160 acres by Cash Entry, at SE S28-T6S-R2W. This document is marked Cancelled and has other writing across it that I can't make out. This land touches George's at the Southwest corner. As "Mount Etna Tackett of Phillips County", this man possibly their father, entered 80 acres by Cash Entry, at E1/2SW S21-T6S-R2W. This land sits a quarter-section above E P's land, but a year later in 1861, Mount Etna came back and bought that intermediate quater-section as well.
