Obama was born in 1961 in [[Honolulu, Hawaii|Honolulu]], [[Hawaii]] to Barack Obama, Sr. (born in Nyanza Province, Kenya) and Ann Dunham (born in [[Wichita, Kansas|Wichita]], [[Kansas]]).  His mother Ann died in 1995/6.

He is currently a US Senator from [[Illinois]].  He is running on the Democratic ticket for the US Presidential Election of 2008.
