Alice Tackett was born 18 Oct 1854 in Arkansas, as a daughter of George L Tackett (1830-65).  Although her 1860 census entry states she was born in Kentucky, she was probably born in either Arkansas County or Phillips County where her family had lived for some time. The name of Alice's mother is currently unknown, and she must have died or left by the time of the 1860 census as she does not appear with the family then.  However, it is known that she was born in Indiana as Alice, three times in subsequent decades, states "IN" for her mother's birthstate.

Alice Tackett was born 18 Oct 1854 in Arkansas, as a daughter of George L Tackett.  Her father died Jun 1865 and her mother predeceased him. A family story states that she and her brother Marcus were raised by Edmond Pendleton Gaines Tackett [their first cousin].  This same Edmond settled George's estate and was later sued by Alice and Marcus.

Alice's father died Jun 1865 and her mother predeceased him. Her brother Marcus was two years younger than she. A family story states that she and her brother Marcus were raised by Edmond Pendleton Gaines Tackett [their first cousin].  This same Edmond settled George's estate and was later sued by Alice and Marcus.  In the depositions of that suit, it states that Alice lived with Edmond until she married, and that Marcus lived with Edmond until he was a teenager.

Alice married first to Charles A Harris on 27 Oct 1872 in Phillips County, Arkansas.  She had two children from this union: George L Harris abt 1873 and Marion L Harris about 1877.  Alice married Christopher Columbus Hall in 1880, probably in Phillips County, Arkansas.  They had one child James in 1884.
