Alice's father died Jun 1865 and her mother predeceased him. Her brother Marcus was two years younger than she. A family story states that she and her brother Marcus were raised by Edmond Pendleton Gaines Tackett [their first cousin]. This same Edmond settled George's estate and was later sued by Alice and Marcus.
