There is a deed dated Jun 24, 1837 in Lincoln County, Tennessee where "Car B White" (sic) and James F White sell to G W Martin "... a certain tract of land adjoining the lands of a 618 acre entry in the name of Grayham, for 100 acres lying in the waters of Stephens Creek..." "so soon as we obtain a grant from the State of Tennessee." This [http://www.topozone.com/map.asp?lat=35.1414&lon=-86.4581&datum=nad27&u=4&layer=DRG&s=200 Topomap] gives a general idea of where Stephens Creek is, note the town of Kelso nearby.
