==First Stanley King of Man==

Sir John Stanley was granted the Isle of Man initially in 1405, but those letters were voided in favor of a new grant in 1406.  He married Isabel de Lathom and they had at least two sons:

#John Stanley, Constable of Carnarvon and King of the Isle of Man 1414-37

#Thomas Stanley of Elford who married first Maud Arderne, sole heiress of her father; and secondly Elizabeth Langton

Thomas Stanley was born 1434/5 as the eldest son of Thomas Stanley, 1st Baron Stanley of Lathom by his wife Joan Goushill.  Thomas the father died on 11 Feb 1458/9 whereupon his son succeeded him and was said to be "aged 24" in a document dated 20 Feb 1458/9.
