He married Amanda Whitson 27 Sep 1836 in Whitsontown, Crawford County, Arkansas.  She was born abt 1821 in Williamson County, Tennessee, the eldest daughter of Major William F Whitson Jr and Harriet Witherspoon.  They had five children.

In 1838 Jesse Miller was the first Sheriff of Franklin County.  His name in the [http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wjhonson/FranklinARK/CountyCourtIndex.htm First book of Franklin County Court Minutes] appears in his role as Sheriff until Jan 1839, when he was succeeded by Emanuel Speegle.  He is enumerated in the 1840 Census at Mulberry, Franklin County.
