Mary Launce married Rev. John Sherman, born December 26, 1613. John emigrated to Massachusetts. There the Sherman family became prominent in the founding of western central Massachusetts, in the Hamden County area. A further descendant, also named John, served as Justice of the Peacc under King George II, issuing the order for the founding of Monson, Massachusetts. Five generations later, Miriam Sherman married Ruel Stebbins abt 1807 in Wales, Hamden County, MA. The Stebbins family had been in Massachusetts since 1634 and were instrumental in the founding of Springfield.
