Phyllis Gates was born 1925/6 in Minnesota. One-time secretary to [[Rock Hudson]]'s agent [[Henry Willson]], she married Rock on [[Nov 9]], 1955 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Snata Barbara; they divorced about 1958. It was Rock Hudson's only marriage. Both prior and after this he had gay lovers. She died [[Jan 4]], 2006 at the age of 80. Her obituary appears in the ''Los Angeles Times''.
