Item 1; I direct and declare that so soon after my death as practicable, the my Executor or Executors, pay all my just debts and funeral expenses out of any money that may be on hand at my decease, or that may first come into the hands of said Executors.

Item 2; I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Caroline Matilda, during her natural life, the tract of land on which I now live, containing one hundred and five acres, bounded as described in a deed from William A. Mc McClelland to me, dated June 11th, 1853, and which was conveyed to him by James G. Wood.

I also give to my said wife, the following slaves in like manner, viz, Julia, Caroline, Henry, Charles and Michael, and in the event I sell Michael before my death and buy another in his place, I give such other Negro or slave as I may buy to my wife.

3rd. I give and bequeath to my grandson, William N. Wright, only son of, James B. Wright and Julia, his wife, who is my eldest child and daughter, a Negro girl named Margaret, now in the possession of said James B. and Julia Wright. Said James B. and Julia Wright are to retain possession of same slave Margaret, and to have the use of benefit of her and her labor during the natural life of said Julia.

3rd. I give and bequeath to my grandson, William N. Wright, only son of, James B. Wright and Julia, his wife, who is my eldest child and daughter, a Negro girl named Margaret, now in the possession of said James B. and Julia Wright. Said James B. and Julia Wright are to retain possession of same slave Margaret, and to have the use of benefit of her and her labor during the natural life of said Julia.

Item 4; I give and bequeath to my son, Thomas J., one Negro slave named Anderson.

Item 7; I give and bequeath to my son, William fifty- four acres of land on which he now lives, and was conveyed by him heretofore by James Wiley Sr. , but the consideration money thereof, was paid by me, also one Negro boy slave named Anthony.

Item 8; I direct that at the death of my wife, my Executors herein afterward named, proceed to sell to the highest bidder on the usual credit, all the property or so much thereof as may remain hereinbefore willed to my said wife during her natural life, which property I hereby direct to be sold as above.

Item 9; I direct that my Executors out of the proceeds of the sale of the property last mentioned, pay to my grandchildren above, I will and bequeath the remainder of the proceeds of the sale of the property; Robert Constantine and Matilda Jane Davis  the only children of my deceased  daughter, Charlotte, who intermarried with Hendry Davis, both of whom are dead,

Item 10:  After my Executors shall have paid the last above mentioned sums to my grandchildren as above, I will an direct the remainder of the proceeds of the sale of the property above directed to be sold, to my children; Julia Wright, Thomas J., John G., and James C. McClellan, to be equally divided amongst them.

Lastly, I hereby nominate and appoint my sons, Thomas J. and William A. McClellan, Executors to this my Last Will & Testament, being the only one ever made by me. In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my name and affix my seal this 11th day of June, 1852.
