The Delicate Delinquent (1957) buddy-film comedy (playlist - complete), produced by Jerry Lewis
starring Jerry Lewis, Darren McGavin, Martha Hyer
Jerry is mistakenly picked up by the cops as a delinquent, but the kindly-hearted cop Darren McGavin decides that he can "reform" him.  Martha Hyer as Darren's love interest, the uptown reformer who doesn't know how to deal with street kids.

From the beginning of Jerry's career, his movies have always revolved around a two-man relationship, which could be read with elements of homo-eroticism, with any female romantic interest of Jerry's always played very light and insubstantial.  Dean Martin however was played as such a ladies man that that element was obscured.  In The Delicate Delinquent however, the emotional bonding which Darren McGavin portrays seems to me, much more directly encoded attraction.  Much of the dialogue can easily be read as flirtation and intimacy.
