Walt Disney's Animated Films

Walt Disney was responsible through his company Walt Disney Studios for the creation of many famous feature-length animated movies, the first one being Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1938.  The next ones were Pinocchio and Fantasia in 1940, Dumbo in 1941 and Bambi in 1942.

After several live and animated shorts that few people remember today, the next major animated film was Cinderella in 1950.  This was followed by Alice in Wonderland in 1951 and Peter Pan in 1953.  The next films were Lady and the Tramp in 1955, Sleeping Beauty in 1959, 101 Dalmatians in 1961 and the Sword in the Stone in 1963.  Then came The Jungle Book which was released in 1967 after Walt had died at the end of the preceding year.

Next The Aristocats in 1970, Robin Hood in 1973, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in 1977, followed quickly by The Rescuers also in 1977.  Then came The Fox and the Hound in 1981 and The Black Cauldron in 1985, The Great Mouse Detective in 1986 and Oliver & Company in 1988

But the next major animated hit for Disney was The Little Mermaid in 1989.  This was followed by the more lackluster The Rescuers Down Under in 1990, but then the major hit Beauty and the Beast in 1991, and another major hit Aladdin the following year in 1992.

To finish out the list there followed The Lion King in 1994, Pocahontas in 1995, The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1996.

Disney continued with the animated films:
Hercules in 1997, Mulan in 1998, Tarzan in 1999, Fantasia 2000 in 2000, Dinosaur in 2000, The Emperor's New Groove in 2000, Atlantis: The Lost Empire in 2001, Lilo & Stitch in 2002, Treasure Planet in 2002, Brother Bear in 2003, Home on the Range in 2004, Chicken Little in 2005, and Meet the Robinsons in 2007

Non-animated movies

Disney also made many movies which were not animated.  For example 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and the Swiss Family Robinson.
