 1511 Henry VIII married his brother Arthur's widow Catherine of Aragon June 1509.  Their eldest child, a daughter born 31 Jan 1510 lived only three days.  Their next child Henry, Duke of Cornwall was born 1 Jan 1511, but died 22 Feb 1511.  He was second-in-line for only 52 days.

Anne Boleyn, evidently already pregnant, is married to Henry VIII on 25 Jan 1533.  On 7 Sep 1533, their daughter Elizabeth is born.  Mary Tudor (b 1496) died 25 Jun 1533.  Henry FitzRoy is married 28 Nov 1533 to Mary Howard daughter of the Duke of Norfolk.  Mary Tudor (b 1516) is removed from the succession as a bastard.

 1543 Third Succession Act is passed Jul 1543 by which Elizabeth is restored to the line of succession.

 1547 Henry VIII died 28 January 1547.  In his will he listed his chosen succession as "Edward, Mary, Elizabeth" then to the heirs of his younger sister Mary, leaving out the heirs of his elder sister Margaret in Scotland, since the two countries were then at war.

 1553 Edward VI died 6 Jul 1553, excluding both Mary and Elizabeth by his will from the succession.  Frances was made to renounce her right to the throne.  Jane was queen for nine days, but deposed by a popular revolt and arrested, after which the protector and erstwhile kingmaker Dudley was executed.
