Ralph Hodges was a "B" movie actor. IMDb lists him with 25 credits, from 1943 to 1954, although 11 of those are uncredited.  IMDb also lists him as " born in 1921 in Elevation, Johnston County, North Carolina", which as we shall see, is poopee caca.

Ralph Hodges, on the left here is a difficult-to-believe 26.  Trolling through newspaper mentions of him, I finally was able to locate an article in the San Antonio Express dated 8 Jul 1951 (page 54) "Movie Actor, Producer in Air Force" which states that he was then 22, "son of Mr and Mrs W E Hodges of Hollywood" and "veteran of 50 motion-picture roles".

In Apr 1952 "now a sergeant in the Air Force", in Catalina, he married songstress Richye Gray.

Knowing that he was born then in 1928/29 and his father is "W E", I was able to find the family in the 1930 US Federal Census in San Bernardino.

There we learn that Ralph S Hodges was born in California to William E and Ruby Hodges.  His father William age 42 was a real estate salesman at this time, and born in Kansas, while Ruby was 40 and born in Colorado.

On this census, Ralph had a much older brother Lloyd B, who was aged 20 and worked in a gas station

[Edit]
I can then find Ralph on the California Birth Index as "Ralph Stirling Hodges" born 13 Jan 1929 San Bernardino County, mother's maiden name : Schlessingel.

I then find this same family, living in the 1920 US Federal Census in Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado, where the father William was a Florist in a Greenhouse, and the mother Ruby was a Music Teacher at Home.

In the 1910 US Federal Census, they are still living at Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado.  They have been married for one year, and Lloyd has just been born that year.

[Edit]
This time, William the father, age 23, is a Barber in a Barber Shop, and Ruby the mother is a Music Teacher At Home.

Now knowing that William was living in Colorado Springs, probably the entire period from 1910 to 1920, we can try to find him in the World War I Draft Registration Cards.

And there, we learn his full name was William Elisha Hodges, he was born 28 Jan 1887 in Englewood, Kansas.  He was at that time a Landscape Gardener, short and slender, with red hair and blue eyes, wife and child.

Now with his exact birth date, we can find his death in the California Death Index where I find that William E Hodges, born 28 Jan 1887 in Kansas, died 10 Jan 1972 in San Diego.
